Unforgettable Canal Tours

Restaurant Het Karbeel

What is more fun than sailing through the canals of Amsterdam? We have an answer to that: sailing and then dining in the best cheese fondue restaurant in the city. That is why Floating Amsterdam and restaurant Het Karbeel have joined forces to give you a great evening. We can’t imagine it, but if you don’t like cheese fondue, you can of course also eat something else.

How does it work?

There are several options. The restaurant and our boarding location are in the same area. You can have a boat tour first and then have dinner or you can do it the other way around.

Make sure you are present 15 minutes prior to departure, so the boat can leave on time. You will be welcomed by our host and he/she will show you where you can sit on the boat.

The people who work in the restaurant know what time your boat tour will be, so they take that into account.

To book this fun experience, please contact us by phone. This way we know for sure that there is room for you at Floating Amsterdam and Het Karbeel.

During the phone conversation you let us know when you want to come. You will then be told how to book this on our site. You pay everything in advance, so you can get up after dinner, say goodbye and just walk away.

Cheese fondue restaurant Het Karbeel

Do you like cheese? If that’s the case, you have to eat at restaurant Het Karbeel. It’s a great idea even if you don’t like cheese. The beautiful building, the delicious food and the friendly staff provide the ultimate culinary experience. Het Karbeel is a famous name in Amsterdam and has been mentioned and praised several times in the media, such as on RTL Boulevard (a very popular tv show in the Netherlands). Dutch celebrities have also found their way to this top restaurant.

History

The building in which Het Karbeel is located dates from 1534. A “karbeel” is a diagonal beam that connects the wall with a truss beam. This is where the restaurant gets its name from.

Among all the buildings in the Warmoesstraat in Amsterdam, Het Karbeel immediately stands out as one of the few authentic restaurants that are still there.
The business first opened its doors in 1977 and is still run by the entire family today.
