Four centuries later, they used them for spirits and after a long process of experimentation, the gin was born. The Dutch jenever was imitated in London, where they called it ginnever before it became "gin". It eventually turned into a quintessentially British alcoholic drink made by distilling fermented grain mash. Juniper berries are added to this, giving it the specific taste. Tonic

The World Health Organization has included quinine in its list of essential drugs, as it is antipyretic and was the first antimalarial drug. You can find it in bitter lemon and tonic but it can also be found in the heart of a pineapple.
